‘We sailed into Cherbourg to overnight on 30th April – the following morning whilst walking back from the shower block one of the crew decided to watch them lift this yacht ready to step the mast and launch her.

‘There was a almight crash as the yacht and crane toppled over.

‘We weren’t exactly sure what caused it but it looks as though the crane driver forgot to extend his feet.

‘We then witnessed what seemed like every local fire and police man arrive on scene and watch the proceedings.

‘Luckily no one was hurt and the welders were soon on scene cutting away the cables.’
