Suffolk Police are continuing enquiries into the incident off
the coast of Lowestoft on Monday afternoon, 10 March, where a man
died.

Extensive searches have been carried out after the man was found
in the water around 2.25pm. Attempts were made to revive him but he
was pronounced deceased just after 3pm.

He is now being named as Peter Chambers, aged 43, of Wellesley
Road in Great Yarmouth. At this stage police have not been able to
trace his next-of kin. Anyone who may have knowledge of any family
members is asked to contact Steve Bignell, coroners officer, on
01986 835167.

Enquiries are continuing into what happened on behalf of the
coroner and police in Suffolk will continue to lead the
investigation.

It’s now known the boat Mr Chambers was on left Great Yarmouth
harbour on Monday morning for a fishing trip.

The upturned boat recovered from the water has been examined and the
investigation is trying to determine what happened. Police have
taken calls from people who reportedly saw the boat in rough seas
between Gorleston and Lowestoft.

Two men from the Great Yarmouth area have been reported as
missing to Norfolk Police and enquiries are continuing to find
them.

One of the two men is in his 40s, the other in his late 70s.

Extensive searches of the sea and shoreline involved the Coastguard and local lifeboats, a police helicopter and an RAF search and rescue helicopter.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) say resources have been stood down and there are no plans for any further searches.
