Oceankite vessel sets sail from San Francisco
French sailor Anne Quéméré has set off from San Francisco in an attempt to cross the Pacific Ocean by kite power alone.
Her purpose built Oceankite vessel, designed by Marc Ginisty has already proven itself with an Atlantic crossing two years ago.
It is 5.5m long and self-righting with enough storage space for around five kites and provisions for the estimated 3,650NM journey finishing in French Polynesia.
Quéméré has previously rowed across the South Atlantic and the north Atlantic solo.
