New sponsors in the pipeline to support boat trips for disadvantaged children
Several new local sponsors have come forward to support the Get Afloat! fund – a worthy boating cause in Chichester Harbour.
The fund was set up by Chichester Harbour Conservancy to enable disadvantaged children to enjoy Chichester Harbour on board the Conservancy’s solar-powered catamaran Solar Heritage.
An appeal by the CCH last week for donations from local businesses has already generated one confirmed new sponsor, Glanvilles Solicitors, which will enable a further 50 children to get afloat.
At least two more local businesses have pledged support, on top of the eight already confirmed, which has generated funding for at least eight trips.
The scheme will officially start in September, although £200 has already gone towards subsidising a couple of trips for severely disabled children from the Rachel Madocks School, Cowplain, Waterlooville.
The Fund has already received support from; Peters Opal, Seafever International, Solent Sunbeams, Crouchers Country Hotel, Hayling Yacht Company and Wicks Farm Holiday Park.
