Poole Harbour Commissioners are advising mariners to navigate with caution after two buoys are misplaced
Mariners are advised that the East Looe No. 4 buoy in Poole Bay has been blown ashore and is no longer in place.
The large red buoy, usually positioned 50 ̊ 41.088’N, 001 ̊ 56.166’W, caused a stir at the weekend when it washed up on a beach at Sandbanks.
Similarly the Swash Channel No. 5 buoy, usually placed 50 ̊ 40.160’N, 001 ̊ 55.698’W, has been blown out of position by approximately 100 metres to the SSE.
Poole Harbour Commissioners are advising mariners to navigate with caution in these areas.
Harbour Master, Captain Brian Murphy said: ‘Unfortunately, during the recent storms, East Looe No 4 Buoy decided to visit Sandbanks beach.
‘A Local Notice to Mariners was promulgated and the buoy has now been recovered and will be refurbished and returned to its rightful position marking the East Looe Channel.’
