An Edinburgh yacht club has won the right to keep its boat store over the winter while developers work around it.
The Forth Corinthian Yacht Club (FCYC) in Granton Harbour was asked to temporarily move its 51 boats to allow for the demolition of a derelict shed. However, the club objected, saying it had only three weeks to find alternative storage.
Following talks between the club and the developer, Landowner Forth Ports, it was agreed the boats could stay. However the future of the club’s changing facilities has not yet been decided.
The development of the harbour’s middle pier is part of a larger plan to regenerate Granton’s 345-acre waterfront, which Edinburgh city council says is rundown and derelict. Find out more on the Granton Masterplan at the council’s website
