An €85m windfarm is to be built off the coast of County Louth
A new windfarm is being planned for the Irish Sea. The ?85m (£59m) project will be built off the coast of County Louth, and will be able to produce 250 megawatts (MW) of electricity.
The developer, Oriel Windfarm Limited, says the location, in the Clogherhead area, is one of the most attractive in the Irish Sea. ‘The area has excellent wind resources, good seabed topsoil, shelter from high wave loads and insignificant tidal streams,’ said managing director Brian Britton. The first phase is expected to be completed in 2009.
