Portsmouth will be partying from 19 May to 2 June as it hosts the only UK stopover of the Volvo Ocean Race. The city will be the eighth port in the round-the-world race, which finishes in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The excitement starts with the arrival of the seven Volvo Ocean 70s on 19 May, followed by a two-week programme of events at Gunwharf Quays. There’ll bands playing, a funfair, comedy shows, a light show at the Spinnaker Tower, and in-port racing. The yachts will depart on 2 June to a grand farewell of confetti and music.
