Roger Garwood saves more than £50 with his DIY rigging screw covers
Rigging screw covers cost approximately £10 each, so for my Westerly Centaur I would have needed to spend around £60 to cover all six.
Instead, I used a 2m length of 32mm UPVC white waste pipe (cost 0.98p) bought from a local DIY centre. I also purchased two packets of white plastic caps from the same shop (cost £3.28).
With a hacksaw, I cut the waste pipe into six equal lengths and shaped one end of each length to fit over the deck U-bolts. I then drilled each cap and cut a slot in each one. The result: six rigging screw covers for a total cost of £4.26.
