Tomorrow’s Ladies’
Day at the PSP Southampton Boat Show will be packed with hands-on activities
and attractions.

With a growing rise in
the number of women participating in watersports, this year’s Ladies’ Day will
be a celebration of women on the water.

Visitors will be encouraged to take advantage of the many opportunities to learn, see, hear and
participate in boating activities.

FREE activities include:

• Try A Boat– perfect for beginners. A
  wide selection of sail & power boats to chose from. Book on
  arrival, stand A140.
• Suzuki RIB Experience – Show sponsor
  Suzuki will be running free RIB experiences every day. Book on
  stand E057.
• RYA Active Marina – on water and
  shorebased workshops. Refresh your boating skills and get top tips
  from expert instructors
• Wetwheels – Geoff Holt MBE encourages
  those with a disability to get out on the water. Wetwheels will be
  on the marina. Register in advance now.

Other attractions include the Global
Challenge Sailing Experience – a 72ft round the world Ocean Race
Yacht, which will take you on a one-and-a-half hour sailing adventure right in the heart of the
Solent. Tickets cost £52 and include entry to the show.

All activities are suitable for both experienced and novice sailors.

For those wanting to stay dry and get inspired, the British Stand Up Paddleboard Association
(BSUPA) is hosting an exclusive ladies invitational paddleboard race live
in the heart of the Show.

A dozen of the UK’s leading women competitors,
including current BSUPA Women’s Distance Champion Maria Buchanan, will showcase the sport with demonstrations and races,
culminating in a final race competing for the title of PSP Southampton Boat
Show Women’s SUP Champion 2013

Richard Marsh, events director BSUPA, said: ‘SUP is the fastest growing ocean sport, in both sales and
participation and has so much to offer individuals of all ages and abilities
wishing to get involved, whether it be at a competitive or pure and simple
recreational level.’

Visitors can also enjoy stepping aboard yachts of all sizes, looking at the spectacular feature boats on display,
as well as indulging in a glass of champagne at the
waterfront vantage points the show’s bars and lounges have to offer.

Chosen charity

This year’s Ladies’ Day
official charity partner is Barnardo’s, which runs more than 800 projects throughout the
UK that transform the lives of over 200,000 children and young people every
year.

Their work includes fostering and adoption services, enabling children to
break free from sexual exploitation, supporting young carers and helping
children living in poverty.

Barnardo’s UK events manager Victoria Veats said: ‘We hope to raise lots of money for our work in the local
area on the day and look forward very much to being part of the event.’
