Today marks 100 days to go until the America’s Cup World Series, Portsmouth (Thursday 23 – Sunday 26 July 2015).
The organisers are celebrating this landmark date by adding a three-night programme of entertainment to the event, including The Massed Bands of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines South Coast Proms for two nights on the Thursday and Friday and a Saturday night music concert with internationally-renowned acts.
Taking place within the Waterfront Festival Arena on Southsea Common, the Saturday, 25 July, evening concert will be a paid-for ticket with purchasing details, line-up and schedule details to be announced in the next few weeks.
Sir Keith Mills, GBE, The America’s Cup World Series (ACWS) Portsmouth event chairman said: ‘In my opinion, the America’s Cup has always been about combining a premier sporting event with a full onshore programme that delivers the widest possible appeal to a large and growing audience.
‘Adding the evening programme and making maximum use of the facilities set up for the day time means we can provide a true spectacle in Portsmouth for local, national and international visitors.’
The Massed Bands of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines will host their South Coast Proms two-night concert on the evenings of Thursday 23 July and Friday 24 July.
The band’s two-hour concert each night will include a selection of classical, contemporary, military and mainstream music.
