New features announced for the 62nd annual London Boat Show include a ‘60’s Revival’ attraction, a ‘Mediterranean Bay’ pool, and a theatre showcasing talks by boating experts.
Designed with the tagline ‘where adventure starts, pioneers meet and innovation shines’, the 2016 show aims to showcase the world of boating, enabling visitors to see the latest trends, technologies and innovations, and experience ‘show-stopping attractions’.
Held across 10 days, from Friday 8 January to Sunday 17 January, the show at ExCeL London will kick-start the 2016 boating calendar by hosting over 300 marine brands and showcasing thousands of products, services and boats from leading British and international companies
Spread over the equivalent of six full-sized football pitches, exhibitors will range from world-class boat builders through to fashion, travel operators and watersports companies.
New features include the ‘60’s Revival’ attraction which will transport visitors back to the swinging 60’s – an era that saw the first man to walk on the moon, The Beatles, the arrival of the Mirror Dinghy, and Sir Francis Chichester becoming the first person to sail single-handed around the world.
Also new for 2016 is the ‘Mediterranean Bay’, a purpose built pool featuring watersports demonstrations, opportunities to get out on the water, and the chance to learn how to moor a boat in a typically tight Mediterranean-style berth; and ‘The London Boat Show Theatre’ which will feature some of the world’s boating experts talking on topics ranging from technology & innovations, to engine maintenance and around the world expeditions.
The PBO Project Boat Hantu Biru will be among the boats on display and members of the public will be invited to enter the competition to win her – it’s the last chance to see the fully-restored Snapdragon 23 before the prize draw deadline of 17 January.
Advance tickets start from £10, with two children under the age of 15 going free with each adult. Additional concessions are also available.
