RNLI rescuers fly into action in North Wales
Holyhead
all-weather and inshore RNLI lifeboats were launched last night after a
local vessel reported a light on South Stack cliffs, Anglesea.
The lifeboat crews were tasked with
searching the cliff face from the sea after a local boat crew reported
seeing a light on the cliff top, near South Stack Lighthouse.
A Sea King helicopter from RAF Valley and coastguard cliff teams also attended.
After searching for more than an hour and a half it was discovered that the
light was emanating from a camera placed to monitor birds
nesting at the RSPB location. All teams were stood down and the Royal National Llifeboat Institution (RNLI)
volunteers returned home.
Holyhead RNLI Lifeboat press officer Ray Steadman said: ‘The call out
was made with good intent and we would rather be called out when there
is a possibility someone needs assistance.’
