Haslar Marina is installing Rolec’s new electricity service pedestal and upgrading washroom facilities in the first phase of improvement works.
Dean & Reddyhoff Marinas has announced plans to improve Haslar Marina in Portsmouth Harbour with more than £1.5million-worth of investment.
The improvement work will take place over the next three years at Dean & Reddyhoff’s first and largest marina, which has 600 berth holders.
Priorities include repairing the wavescreen, dredging, a new electrical installation using Rolec’s Quantum pedestals and major improvements to the washroom facilities; the last two being worked upon immediately.
The first phase of the electrical installation will see the new Rolec Quantum pedestal being fitted to the pontoons from April. Haslar will be the first marina in the UK to showcase the slim
anodised aluminium bollards.
Ben Lippiett, Marina Manager, states ‘We are thrilled to be rolling out the Quantum pedestals. They are well built, look superb and, together with the BerthMaster Online software, create a fantastic online solution for our customers to manage their own electricity accounts.
‘We hope customers will use less electricity as a consequence (with obvious environmental benefits) as they will get immediate feedback on usage so can quickly identify power hungry devices on board.’
The team selected Rolec’s ‘BerthMaster Online’ that allows owners to turn their power on or off
from any web enabled device. They can also pre-pay securely online having viewed and checked their own consumption since their last payment. Email updates will advise of a multitude of items, from low credit alerts through to a notification if they have been unplugged.
Brian and Dawne Dunton, berth holders for over 19 years and Haslar Yacht Club members think the new system will make life much easier and more efficient for berth holders.
Brian, who owns a Tallulah Princess 50′ yacht said: ‘Being able to keep an eye on usage from the office, or abroad is an excellent new development.
‘We don’t live that far away, but to have any cuts in supply flagged up instantly has obvious advantages. We love the marina and our berth here, but it will be even better when the washrooms are complete and the Rolec system installed.’
Dean & Reddyhoff have three other marinas along the south coast: at East Cowes, Weymouth and Portland.
