Colne Yacht Club at
Brightlingsea now owns two 22ft Hunter Sonata yachts following
its successful Royal Yachting Association (RYA)-supported bid for lottery funding.

In celebration of the Sport England grant, the club is offering weekend taster sessions to give aspiring sailors of all
ages the chance to get afloat under the guidance of RYA-qualified keelboat
instructors.

If
the bug bites, there are then five preliminary skills clinics. After that, new
sailors can join the club to continue gaining experience.

Once
a certificate of competence has been achieved the new sailors can take a Sonata
out – in return for a contribution towards running costs.
