Forecast threatens to dampen Diamond Jubilee celebrations
This Sunday more than 1,000 boats will take to the River Thames to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee.
The river procession will be more than seven miles long, starting upriver of Battersea Bridge and finishing beyond Tower Bridge 90 minutes later.
It will be the largest collection of historic vessels ever assembled on the Thames.
Almost 50 large viewing screens will either be in Battersea Park at the Diamond Jubilee Festival or along the banks of the Thames.
For those not in London, a four and a half hour special will be broadcast on BBC One from 1.30pm.
