Village to house 400 sailors and officials in Weymouth
The Weymouth and Portland Sailing Village has been officially handed over to the Olympic organisers ahead of the London 2012 games.
Deputy chair of London 2012, Sir Keith Mills, who also headed Britain’s Team Origin America’s Cup campaign, received the village on behalf of LOCOG in a handover ceremony this afternoon.
Millions of pounds have transformed Osprey Quay into 77 residential units, which will house 400 sailors and team officials during the sailing races at the nearby Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (pictured).
After the games the village will become social and affordable housing.
