Fifteen hundred watch sailing for free
Free tickets on offer for the final day of racing at the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta brought huge crowds flocking to the Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy on Saturday.
More than 1,500 people visited next year’s Olympic and Paralympic sailing venue, which played host to last week’s event, with even more watching from nearby shores.
Many medal hopefuls took part in the multi-discipline regatta, including British Olympic champion Ben Ainslie, who won gold in the Finn class.
Local mayor Graham Winter said: ‘It’s a marvellous event, a good introduction to what we can expect from the Olympics.’
