St Peter Port Marina: St Peter Port, the undoubted jewel in Guernsey’s crown, is one of the finest natural anchorages in the Channel Islands. The Guernsey capital has evolved over the centuries into a bustling port that caters very successfully for thousands of visiting yachtsmen and also for the varied needs of commercial passengers and freight operations, a fishing fleet and local boat-owners. Situated at the very heart of the port and nestling right beside the waterfront pubs, shops and restaurants, Guernsey Marinas offer good shelter in all weathers.
From the spires and towers on the skyline high above the harbour to the castle that guards its entrance, the town provides a striking vista as you pass through the pier heads and follow the buoyed channel towards the visitors’ pontoons in the Victoria Marina.
A Marina Attendant in a dory will guide you to your berth or the holding pontoon just outside the entrance, which provides plenty of space for vessels awaiting the tide.
The facilities include shower blocks on both sides of the marina and electricity and water is available on all Victoria Marina pontoons. Guernsey Marinas has a popular walk-ashore facility outside the Victoria Marina which offers non-tidally restricted berths offering our visiting yachtsmen greater flexibility. A fuel berth and large chandlery are located on the south side of the main fairway.
Guernsey Marinas also offers the very best value-for-money for overwintering your craft. The well protected berths are constantly supervised and are serviced by experienced local marine engineers. It is required that owners take out a “gardiennage” agreement with a local marine engineer.
There is, however, much more to Guernsey than its capital port and its many other attractions – both natural and man-made – are just a short bus or cycle ride away. We recommend visiting yachtsmen pop in to the Tourist Information Centre on the North Esplanade for more details.
