Scenes of destruction reported, ship missing
A tsunami warning has been extended to most of the Pacific basin after the massive earthquake off Japan. Following the quake, a tsunami devastated parts of the Japanese coast. Broadcaster NHK showed cars, trucks, houses and buildings being swept away by a tsunami in Onahama city in Fukushima prefecture. Black smoke was seen billowing from a building in Odaiba, a Tokyo suburb, and bullet trains to the north of the country were halted. A ferry and train are reported missing.
