Pontoon founders, but no fuel leaks out
Last week’s heavy winds and rain that battered much of the UK sank the fuel jetty at Warsash, on the river Hamble.
The 60ft wooden structure sank early on Friday morning. The harbourmaster has issued a notice to mariners to avoid the area until it is lifted.
River Hamble Management Committee chairman Councillor Sean Woodward told the Daily Echo that no fuel
leaked out but the owner would now have to have the wreckage raised and
decide
whether or not it could be repaired.
