Appeal for help from club members
High tides and severe winds have caused flooding at East Lothian YC dinghy park at North Berwick Harbour, East Lothian – 20 miles east of Edinburgh.
The police would not allow people into the dinghy park, until the tide had subsided enough to make it safe.

A large working party of members turned up at the harbour side yesterday to move as many boats as possible above the water line before the next tide arrived.
The club website reports that masts have been taken down to reduce windage and warn members that it might take some time to sort out which boats are on which trolleys. ‘Members are requested to make an appearance at the club as soon as possible to try and identify their boats, equipment and trolleys/trailers.’
In the harbour itself, one yacht lost its mast and one broke free of its mooring and ended up on the beach.
A message on the club’s website posted yesterday reads: ‘The Dinghy Park has flooded very badly. All hands are needed to get the boats in there up onto the green by the seabird centre. This will happen as soon as the water has dropped sufficiently. Currently we cannot get to the dinghy park as the water is too high (4ft).This involves all boats in the dinghy park. All help is needed.’
