The 2010 Tullet Prebon London Boat Show opened its doors on Friday to an icy wind, but despite the heavy snowfall and freezing weather conditions affecting much of the country, visitor numbers seemed high.

Over 80 new products are being launched at this year’s show, including electronics, clothing, gear and new boats. 

Come and pick up the latest issue of PBO, hot off the presses and enter our fantastic competitions, with the chance to win a Waveline 3.2m Airdeck inflatable boat, four Marinepool lifejackets and a Cobra handheld floating VHF radio. Having done that, why not head for a refreshing
pint of Guinness just across the aisle. It’s tradition, after all.

New features at the show this year include ‘Boating on a Budget’, supported by PBO, where if you buy a 5 raffle ticket you’ll have the chance to win an immaculately restored Hunter 19, Barangoola, in aid of Burnham-on-Crouch’s floating boathouse appeal.

Throughout the show, ‘Boating Heroes‘ will be on stage to inspire and amaze with their tales of derring do, from Ben Ainslie to Steve White, Geoff Holt and Mike Perham. During the week, 11th-15th January, you can put your questions on using Radar and AIS to expert Alan Watson, from 3pm on the main stage.

From 1400 on Wednesday 13th, on stand N072R, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston will be presenting the Little Ship Club’s Suhaili trophy to club member, PBO Contributor and blogger Nathan Whitworth, for his exploits in sailing around the UK in his 21ft Corribee, Kudu.

Exhibitors, too braved the icy conditions, although some from the East of England were held up by heavy snowfall. Bournemouth-based marine upholsterers Toomer & Hayter were celebrating after they battled the weather to make this their 50th appearance at the London Boat Show.
