Individual sailors can now sign up for the world record attempt in Andrew's Simpson's memory on 21 September 2014
Sailors from across the world are signing up for Bart’s Bash – including Sir Ben Ainslie, Iain Percy and Jimmy Spithill.

good you really are, then here is your chance to do so…
The Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation charity is behind
Bart’s Bash, a global sailing race and fundraising event, which will be taking place on Sunday 21 September 2014.
Bart’s Bash will be joining
together thousands of worldwide sailors in a race to set a new Guinness
World Record, raise money for charity, inspire the next generation and
remember Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson, gold and silver Olympic medallist and
America’s Cup sailor.
Father-of-two Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson died on 9 May 2013 while training for the 34th Americas Cup, aged 36.
His friends and fellow sailing stars from around the world have thrown their support behind the event.
Sir Russell Coutts, of New Zealand, said: ‘It’s going to be a day when all sailors can participate in a race against each other and what a fantastic idea. I know Bart would be looking down on this race and getting right into it.’
Italy’s Vasco Vascotto said: ‘You have to be in the water, everybody has to be in the water, we have something special to celebrate.’
China’s Olympic gold medallist Lijia Xu said: ‘Let’s do something special for Andrew’s memory and the sport of sailing.’
Britain’s Olympic silver medallist Saskia Clark urged non-sailors to: ‘Get yourselves signed up to a local sailing club. It will be a fantastic day for sailing and a great way to remember Andrew Simpson.’
Bart’s Bash officially launched in February this year. Today marks the launch of the new Bart’s Bash website and the opening of
the individual sailor sign-up process.
