Jimmy Cornell, sailor, author and public speaker, has travelled 200,000-plus miles, including three circumnavigations, voyages to Antarctica and the Northwest Passage.

Many sailors have fulfilled bluewater cruising dreams with the help of his books, such as World Cruising Routes. As the founder of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC), he is credited with having devised the offshore cruising rally concept.

Over 40 years he organised 38 transatlantic rallies, six round-the-world rallies and one round-the-world race, with more than 3,000 boats and 15,000 sailors having participated in his events.
