- Ella is hoping to overcome terrifying challenges including icebergs, freezing water and polar bears.
- Her journey – which has only recently become possible due to melting polar ice caps – aims to showcase the devastating environmental impact of sea ice decline, both in the Arctic and across the world.
- Ella’s voyage also aims to support two charities working tirelessly to protect the Arctic: Polar Bears International and the Ocean Conservancy.
- At the end of her voyage, Ella will auction her ship Yeva with proceeds to go to these two charities.

The Route
Ella will be sailing from Haslar Marina, in the Solent, up the East coast of England, to a start point on the 66.5°N latitude of the Arctic Circle between Norway and Iceland. Then, around Iceland, southern Greenland, through Canada across the Northwest Passage, then across Northern Alaska, and into Russian waters. She will then cross the Laptev and Kara seas (Northeast Passage) and eventually return to her starting point near Norway, before heading back down the coastline of the UK and arriving home at Haslar Marina.

Ocean Films Ltd. will produce a film documenting the voyage, the preparations and the findings of the trip. Ella’s ship, Yeva, will be fitted with fixed cameras, go pros and drones, allowing Ella to record her voyage whilst remaining alone on board.
The voyage is endorsed by the Scientific Exploration Society (SES)
The SES is a British Charity dedicated to the exploration and conservation of the planet. The SES “has engaged in more than 200 expeditions in remote parts of the world” and today “continues its work to promote exploration and to act as a portal to the world of expeditions involved in climate change, environmental protection, and conservation.”
