Planning on heading off into the far blue yonder?
The Blue Water section of the Cruising Association is organising a one-day workshop in February concentrating on modern technology for blue water craft.
The presenter is Mike Reynolds who in the past has run workshops on satellite mapping. He will be offering a set of talks on three important technologies for blue water cruisers – Automatic Identification System (AIS), High Frequency (HF/SSB) radio and satellite imagery-based electronic charts. A workshop session will follow the satellite imagery charting (using google Earth Imagery) to demonstrate how to create and use your own satellite imagery-based electronic charts.
The event will be held at CA House at Limehouse Basin (two stops on the DLR from Bank or four stops from Canary Wharf) on Saturday, February 18 from 9am to 5pm. The price, £17 for CA/OCC members or £20 for non-members, includes refreshments and a sandwich lunch. Parking is on a first-come, first served basis.
