The Historic town of Rye lost both its Maritime Festival and Raft Race several years ago, but both events are being revived on 22nd July this year!
Starting with the Raft Race at 11am, the winners will be presented prizes at 12:30 by the Festival Queen, and there will be tug of war, stalls, music and events until 6pm along the picturesque Strand against the backdrop of the Citadel. On the Sunday, the focus will switch to Rye Harbour where both the Sailing Club and Nature Reserve are putting on events.
For a small, Cinque Port Town, Rye not only has its established Arts Festival in September & Bonfire parade in November, but of late has seen a renaissance of Festivals with Scallop week in February, Wild Boar week in October and now the latest wave of events with the Rye Festival of the Sea.
