The cheap type of crimping tool that costs less than a tenner is better than nothing, but won’t give your connections the security they need. Better to invest a few more pounds into a proper ratchet crimper, which makes more than one ‘grip’ and won’t release until it’s obtained the correct pressure. They usually cost £20-30, but are well worth it for peace of mind as you’re relying on your lights in the shipping lanes!
