Gas bottles have a tendency to rust in the damp sea air, leaving rust stains all over your boat. Try smearing vaseline onto the outside of the cylinder, which should stop it rusting and keep your boat mark-free. An alternative is a dedicated anti-corrosion compound, such as ‘corrosion block’.
