In with the new...
On many boats of a certain age – like the Sigma 38, you’ll find the craftily titled ‘vanity cabinets’ – small sinks, taps and the accompanying skin fitting – another hole in the bottom of the boat. Most people rarely use them anyway – so why not remove the sink, glass over the hole in the bottom of the boat and replace it with a computer station? On many boats these ‘cabinets’ or cubby holes are often the perfect size to take a laptop, and are usually well clear of portlights and hatches, so should be a dry location for your precious computer. The addition of a power- socket and mobile phone holder can turn it into the perfect communications centre- much more useful than a tiny sink-let to brush your teeth into!
