A straightforward rigging tip that could pay huge dividends at sea, almost certainly removing the need for a trip up the mast. Use a halyard-guage line for a topping lift (the one that stops the boom dropping to the coachroof when the main is dropped). If the Halyard should snap, the topping lift can take over.
