The five-time Olympic medallist is celebrated by his hometown

Sir
Ben Ainslie has been made a Freeman of Lymington.

The
ceremony took place on 24 October at the Fuller/McLellan Hall at Lymington
Community Centre.


Members
of the public and local dignitaries watched as the Mayor of Lymington and
Pennington, Councillor Anna Rostand conferred the Honorary Freedom of Lymington
and Pennington upon Sir Charles Benedict Ainslie CBE.


The
36-year-old grew up in Cornwall but has lived in Lymington for 13 years.


He
has won four gold medals and one silver medals in Olympic sailing at the past
five Games and is now making waves in America’s Cup sailing.


The
title of honorary freeman is generally given to people of distinction and
people who have given their services to the local area.
