Fiona Pankhurst will make British Marine Federation history when she takes over the Presidency from Mike Cook
The helm of the British Marine Federation (BMF) will soon be handed to the first-ever female President.
Fiona Pankhurst will make BMF history when she officially becomes its first-ever female BMF President in July.
Yesterday, Marine House played host to both a BMF Council Meeting and an Annual General Meeting where the upcoming change in BMF Presidency was honoured.
Mike Cook took the opportunity to ceremoniously pass on
the chain of office to future BMF President, Fiona Pankhurst, marking a
pivotal moment in BMF history as she will serve as its first female
President.
BMF Chief Executive Howard Pridding praised Mike for all the great successes he enjoyed whilst BMF President over the past two years as he today nears the end of his term of office.
The BMF marked the day with a fittingly themed cake and a garden party.
Fiona, who is also Head of Corporate Marketing & PR for Raymarine marine electronics manufacturer, said: ‘I’m extremely proud about it and I’m a bit chuffed that the BMF will have a first female President with the surname Pankhurst.’
The BMF is the
trade association for the leisure, superyacht and small
commercial marine industry.
