Maritime and Coastguard Agency to host a series of lifejacket 'shows' on the main stage
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has devised a new – more theatrical – presence at this year’s Southampton Boat Show, which kicks off tomorrow (12-21 September).
Lifejacket Show
The MCA in partnership with the RNLI, and the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is staging theatre-style shows on the main stage to demonstrate the vital importance of wearing lifejackets while afloat. The event aims to encourage all boaters to wear properly maintained, fit for purpose lifejackets whilst at sea. Performances will be at 1.30 and 4.30 every day of the show except Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
PRIZE DRAW – WIN A GREAT PRIZE
Completed feedback forms from the lifejacket show audience will be entered into a prize draw to win an RYA training voucher and £200 worth of chandlery vouchers.
Search and rescue demonstrations
Visitors to the Boat Show will also get the opportunity to see the new Coastguard Rescue Helicopter close up whilst it demonstrates search and rescue on the water. The new AugustaWestland 139 Coastguard helicopter will work with the RNLI lifeboat to provide search and rescue demonstrations every day at the show except Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
