Unsalaried position of influence on the Broads authority
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is seeking someone with a keen interest in the Broads to become a member of the Broads Authority.
The Broads is a member of the National Park family and Britain’s third largest inland waterway with 125 miles of lock-free rivers inhabited by some of the rarest wildlife in the UK.
The Broads Authority’s 21 members guide the work of the Authority in caring for the landscape, wildlife and cultural heritage, maintaining the waterways and supporting local communities.
Members are expected to attend a minimum of six meetings a year on weekdays. The position is unsalaried although a small allowance and expenses are paid.
The appointments commence in April 2010 and are initially for up to four years with the option of reappointment for a period of up to ten years.
