Ship rescue after terrifying ordeal
A Canadian woman sailed a 35-foot yacht with her dead father’s body on board to safety after a fatal pirate attack off Honduras last Friday.
Myda Egrmajer, 24, reached an Australian ship as her engine died. She was adrift in the ocean,” her cousin said. “When push came to shove, she chased off the assailants and piloted this boat through heavy seas to get a passing ship to rescue her. She’s a tough cookie.”
The Australian crew rescued the daughter and picked up the body of her father, Milan Egrmejer, who was shot and killed during the attack. She had managed to stay out of sight when four pirates climbed aboard her father’s Ericson 35, Adena. Mr. Egrmajer was shot four times at close range, according to a local report.
