The free event aims to show off the sailing opportunities available
Dover Marina will be holding an open fun day at the end of the month for budding mariners.
On 31 August, the Port of Dover will be offering opportunities to try sailing or learn more about the sport.
From 10am to 4pm, in collaboration with the Royal Cinque Ports Yacht Club (RCPYC), anyone aged from eight to 88 years old will be able to try their hand at sailing and yachting, see motorboat displays, explore the new and used boat sales, see the sea cadets and coastguard and enjoy the Port of Dover Police RIB demonstrations.
Tim Waggott, Chief Executive, Port of Dover, said: ‘This free event is the first of its kind and brings together the local sailing community with industry experts as part of the Port’s commitment to increase interest in water-based activities at Dover.”
The open day forms part of the Port of Dover’s participation in the Royal Yachting Association’s (RYA) Active Marina Programme, which offers additional training, cruising and social opportunities throughout the year and is also in association with the British Marine Federation ‘On the water’ campaign.
Mr Waggott added: ‘We look forward to welcoming new and existing customers to our top award winning marina and to build on what is already an active, vibrant and valued part of the Port and wider Dover community.’
