Deacons Marina has completed the installation of three electric vehicle (EV) charging points at its site near Bursledon on the Hamble.
The charge points are designed to allow boat owners to plug in their electric vehicle, go boating and return to them fully charged.
Luke Shotts, managing director said the idea came about when marina-based company Marine Power added a Nissan Electric van to its fleet and further investigation showed that there were two customers with EV’s, two Nissan Leafs and one with a Tesla.
Luke said: ‘The feedback so far has been positive. Boat owners find it very useful to have the plug in charge points available and they are used regularly.’
Deacons is believed to be the first marina in the Solent area to install Electric vehicle charge points and one of few across the UK. The charge points are rated to 40 amps and are suitable for most EVs.
