A Felixstowe rescue boat and its volunteer coast patrol will be able to remain in operation this summer thanks to a major fundraising drive. £5,000 was raised with the help of press appeals, but unless a more sustainable source of funding is found, there are concerns that the patrols along the beaches at Felixstowe, Suffolk, may end next summer. Since its naissance in 1997 the boat has saved 740 people from the sea.
