Cornwalls newest gig is named, blessed and launched.
Cornwall’s newest gig, Torrent, took to the water for the first time yesterday. Belonging to the Boscastle and Crackington Gig Club – formed after the huge floods which devastated north Cornish villages in August 2004 – the boat was launched after a slipway blessing ceremony performed by the vicar of Boscastle, Reverend Christine Musser. Club members are now preparing to start training for the world championships on the Isles of Scilly in May.
