Pub transformed into ship for jubilee

A Midlands-landlord is celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by turning his pub into a ship.

Andrew Southerden has renamed the Coach and Horses in Kibworth, Leicestershire HMS Coach and Horses, complete with funnels, life rafts, illuminated portholes and a bow.

The pub will be ‘launched’ on June 3, the same day as more than 1,000 boats participate in the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant through central London.

Mr Southerden, 49, said: ‘We’ve been praised for the amount of detail with the lifeboats and portholes, I must say it looks stunning.

‘It will join thousands of boats across Britain in honour of the Queen’s Jubilee’

Hundreds of the pub’s regulars and other villagers contributed their time to the transformation and Mr Southerden, who has appointed himself Admiral for the occasion, is expecting more than 200 visitors for his ‘regatta’-style Jubilee street-party.
