The Coastguard has warned Lake District boaters not to go out after dark after two boats crashed in the same week.
On 30 April a boat with six people on board ran aground on Windermere, and the following Saturday (6 May) eight people were injured, one seriously, after their speedboat crashed into rocks on Derwent Water.
Liverpool Coastguard officer Paul Harrison said people should know better than to go out on the lakes in the dark if they are unfamiliar with them. However, should anyone decide to go boating at night, it’s advised they contact the Coastguard first.
