Beneteau gives 23 boats to LOCOG
Beneteau has handed a fleet of boats to LOCOG (the Olympic organising committee), which it will use to run the Olympic and Paralympic sailing events in July, August and September.
London 2012 sailing manager, Rob Andrews (pictured right), received the 23 boats from Beneteau’s UK sales manager, Francois Renault, at a special event in Weymouth on Saturday that was attended by PBO.
The boats, worth £3.6 million, will accommodate referees, journalists, organisers and VIPs, including royalty, during the games.
Mr Renault said: ‘We’re delighted to be supporting the London 2012 Olympic Games by supplying a fleet of 23 quality Beneteau powerboats to accommodate royalty, heads of state, race officials and other VIPs.
‘We’re confident they will provide the best possible platform from which to enjoy the sailing events at this summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games in Weymouth and Portland.’
