The RNLI assisted two racing yachts in separate incidents during Winter Series racing in Poole Harbour yesterday (Sunday 6 December), as PBO boat tester and photographer, David Harding explains:

‘Two incidents during the Sunday winter-series racing yesterday (Sunday 6 December) – both in the harbour, only a few yards off Poole YC. It was fairly breezy and, by the standards of the harbour, also on the choppy side.

‘First an R19 keelboat capsized – which it’s not really supposed to do. The lifeboat appeared and the pictures tell the rest of the story. Then about an hour later a GK24 lost its rig about 100 yards before the finish line. Another shout for the lifeboat…’
