PBO reader John Spencely, a volunteer driver for St Columba’s Hospice in Edinburgh, will be sailing his Contessa 32 Peak Flow in the 3-plus day, 210-mile Granton to Orkney Race starting this Thursday 9 June.

The Race is organised by the Royal Forth Yacht Club, whose local races are sailed in sight of St Columba’s Hospice.

John and the three other members of his crew – George Brown, Patrick Carnie and Keith Stott – are using their race entry to raise as much money for the hospice’s rebuild campaign as possible.
