Falmouth Coastguard is currently searching for a woman believed to have fallen overboard Russian bulk carrier Vera Maretskaya It’s thought the female steward went overboard this morning 7 miles south of Falmouth.

Falmouth and Lizard RNLI all-weather lifeboats and two rescue helicopters are conducting the search. Falmouth Coastguard Watch Manager, Mick Quinn, said:

‘We know approximately when this woman fell overboard and with the technology available to us we have a search area mapped out. Conditions are extremely poor with south-westerly Gale Force 9 winds. We will continue to search for this woman using our search and rescue resources until all search areas are covered.’
