Queensland accident investigators leak critical report about collision with tanker
As Jessica Watson sets sail again after three weeks of repairs, Australian maritime officials have criticised her family for letting their 16-year-old daughter continue her quest to become the youngest person to sail solo around the world.
A Queensland maritime authority investigation into how Jessica Watson collided with a tanker off the coast of Australia during a test sail earlier this month has criticised her preparation for the trip citing the following points:
* Most probably dozed off before her vessel hit and was dragged alongside the 63,000-tonne cargo ship.
* Could not produce a clear, plotted plan for her journey.
* Had not developed a fatigue management plan.
* Kept a log with “irregular latitude and longitude entries”.
The following TV report was posted on Jessica’s website in the last few days, in which she admits making some errors: www.jessicawatson.com.au
