British yachtswoman breaks record
She may have come sixth in the Barcelona World Race on 13 April, but Hampshire sailor Dee Caffari (38) nonetheless sailed into the record books as the first woman ever to sail non-stop around the world three times.
Dee’s co-skipper Anna Corbella (34) achieved her own record as the first Spanish woman to complete a non-stop circumnavigation.
The only female team in the race, Dee and Anna sailed for 103 days, covering 25,000 miles, on the 18.28m (60ft) yacht GAES Centros Auditivos – Dee’s yacht formerly known as Aviva.
