It comes after two vessels struck the object on the south coast
Sailors are being warned to ‘proceed with extreme caution’ in an area of Hayling Bay, Hampshire.
Chichester Harbour Conservancy, Langstone Harbour Board and Queens Harbour Master Portsmouth have issued a ‘Local Notice to Mariners’ to alert sailors to an underwater obstruction.
It has been reported that two vessels have hit the underwater obstruction, west of the unlighted Winner South Cardinal Buoy, off Langstone Harbour in Hayling Bay, in approximate position:
50° 45′.1N, 001° 01′.2W
The location is due to be surveyed on 30 July 2013.
Vessels are advised to proceed with extreme caution if required to transit this area.
